Art and Architecture Pictures of Montenegro
There is a strong Byzantine influence in Montenegro medieval architecture and painting, notably in the thousands of square metres of frescos in the monasteries and in the hundred of icons. Other notable buildings include the Renaissance palaces at Kotor and Perast, and the examples of Venetian influence around Herceg Novi. More recent administative buildings tend to be socialist realist and not worth the detour. Village houses in the Muslim areas tend to have an Eastern appearance while in orthodox areas they are typically Mediterranean.
