| Montenegrin painting largely followed the religous tradition until the 19th century. The 20th century saw local artists increasingly drawn into the European modern mainstream, partly through outward travels to Italy and France and foreign artists visits. Today both the quality and quantity of art on display is impressive and the pictures are among the best purchases to take home at the end of a visit. There has, by contrast, never been much of tradition of sculpture. |
